The alignment of business and information technology (IT) is essential for enterprises to sustain their competitiveness. Our mission is to teach about and research the models, tools and methods necessary to reason about alignment. This is the domain of enterprise architecture and service engineering.

We base our research on system science and on discipline-specific theories such as strategic thinking, marketing, requirements engineering and software engineering (formal methods and model-driven engineering). System science provides general purpose theories applicable to all systems such as business and IT, and it complements the use of the discipline-specific theories. We strike a balance between generality and specificity: This is our contribution and originality.

Our main deliverable is the SEAM methodology, a method for the seamless design of business and IT.

The members of our group (professors, senior researchers and PhD students) perform research projects that result in publications, courses, student projects, and consulting services.
